    Job Summary & Key Responsibilities

    MercuryGate is seeking highly qualified and motivated individuals to join our creative technical team in building leading-edge web-based solutions for the transportation industry.

     

    The daily work of our agile teams includes analysis of user stories and timely delivery of quality code while communicating effectively. Developers participate in all aspects of application development ranging from graphical user interface design to business and workflow coding to database persistence. The agile teams will also pitch in as needed to work on functional tests, deployment automation scripts and documentation.

     

    Qualified candidates have demonstrated experience working on cloud-based SaaS products, and can easily architect and build a scalable web back-end using Java and Oracle.

     

    The ideal candidate will have demonstrated the ability to design and implement system components, meeting deadlines, effectively managing priorities, communicating progress, and enjoys working as part of a team.  Strong analytical, problem solving, refactoring, and debugging skills are required. To that end, candidates will be asked to discuss their best work and explain what made it great, as well as life lessons learned that have helped them grow as a professional.

     

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Work with a cross-functional agile development team
    • Experiment with new technologies and bring fresh ideas that can benefit and evolve our tech stack
    • Lives the creed of leaving the code in a better place
    • Isn’t afraid to dig into existing code and work to improve it
    • Understands the role CI/CD plays in rapid delivery

    Job Qualifications & Other Requirements

    Required Skills/Experience

    • BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent (Masters degree a plus)
    • Minimum 10+ years of full stack Java based web application development
    • Proven experience in leading component designs and implementation
    • Demonstrated experience in leading the technical implementation of application components for small teams of engineers
    • Strong ability to dive into existing code, understand what it’s doing, and determine what can be done to make it better
    • Experienced in designing and building highly scalable applications with a deep understanding of what it takes to ensure a component is manageable when it is in production
    • Excellent communication skills, and attention to detail

    Preferred Skills / Experience

    • Hands-on experience with test-driven development (TDD) and CI/CD
    • Worked with highly scalable, distributed, micro-service based applications
    • Strong experience with profiling and performance optimization

    This position is located in Cary, NC, and is not open to remote work. Applicants should either be local to the area, or be willing to relocate.
